Legal Secretary

I am currently seeking an experienced Legal Secretary / Administrator to join the property department of a law firm based in central Sheffield. This is a busy and varied role where you will be an integral part of their busy property department, the Property Secretary plays a vital role in supporting fee earners through a range of administrative and secretarial tasks. This position is key to maintaining efficient workflows, delivering a professional service to clients, and ensuring compliance. The successful candidate will have experience of working as a secretary or administrator in a legal environment.

 

Key responsibilities

 

Prepare and format legal documents, correspondence and forms using Microsoft Word and Excel

Manage diaries, schedule appointments and coordinate meetings

Maintain accurate digital and physical filing systems, including archiving and retrieval

Handle billing processes and financial administration

Audio typing via digital dictation

Respond to telephone and email enquiries professionally and discreetly

Liaise confidently with colleagues and external clients

Draft routine legal documents using standard templates

Maintain client files in line with Lexcel standards and firm protocols

Ensure compliance with SRA regulations, Money Laundering Rules and internal policies

 

Requirement

To be considered for this role you must have the following:

 

2 years’ experience in a secretarial or administrative role within a legal environment

Experience in commercial or residential property is preferred

Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and legal software e.g. Aderant (or similar case management systems)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

 

Salary: £25,000 - £26,250
